To "bear" is to carry, to support, to endure, to turn and proceed in a specific direction, to give birth.
It is a telling coincidence that the mammals sharing that same word are an extraordinary example of the essence of motherhood. Instinctually, bears live in tune with the cycles and breadth of nature, respecting rest through hibernation. As mothers, they protect their cubs by birthing and nurturing their offspring with strength and courage. Choosing to birth in the dark, safe, hollow of an old and wise tree, a mama bear knows what she needs.
As an aspiring midwife, birth and postpartum doula, and pre/postnatal dance instructor, I rest in strength to represent that tree and foster the hollow space with a gentle and purposeful heart.
Bear Together: Holistic Birth Services was founded to provide such support and care with a mission of honoring the beautiful vulnerability of birth and parenthood. Through comprehensive support, I hope to provide new families with encouragement. I endeavor so that all people may be treated with respect and empowerment as their lives unfold and bloom.
I am studying the art of midwifery through the Association of Texas Midwives Midwifery Training Program, while apprenticing beneath the guidance of the wonderful midwives at Joyful Beginnings Birth Care, a home birth practice, located in New Braunfels, TX. In my final year of apprenticeship, I look forward to serving the North Austin area as a Licensed Midwife in 2019!
A birth doula provides continuous emotional and physical support before, during, and after labor. In addition to serving women as a birth doula, I also provide postpartum doula services. A postpartum doula fosters the newly forming relationships between the newborn and family and nurtures the mother during her recovery after birth.
Through music, movement, and community, Mama Movement classes celebrate motherhood and the wild feminine body.
Hello! I am Carly Bev Robertson. On a quiet day- I may be found sitting alongside my sweet husband, Tanner, in our humble hill country home which vibrantly expresses who we are. With sunlight shining on the open pages of books, we sip tea, eat popcorn, reference The Office, and listen to old-time folk and bluegrass.
I have a passion for learning and sharing knowledge with others. Coming from the bright and colorful backgrounds of nanny work and teaching dance to children, I am driven to support the growth of the people around me!
Over the past several years, I have passionately devoted my life to studying alternative and holistic health, specifically regarding the female reproductive system. Through my studies, I have found a natural focus around birth.
I am a certified birth and postpartum doula through Doula Trainings International. I have also attended the instructor training through Dancing for Birth. I am a member of the Central Texas Doula Association and The Association of Texas Midwives.
Beginning August of 2014, I have been a student of the art of midwifery through the Association of Texas Midwives Midwifery Training Program. I am currently apprenticing in a home-birth midwifery practice in New Braunfels, TX.
I am currently trained in first aid, CPR, and AED certified through The American Heart Association. I am also currently trained and certified in Neonatal Resuscitation through the American Academy of Pediatrics.
With a mantra of “growing is forever,” I am continuously learning and stretching towards light and love.
It is nice to meet you! Sincerely,
